Beat the game (on any difficulty level) with every character, including Evil Cid. Q. What does Cid IV's Peep move do? A. See Cid IV's move list. Q. How do I play as Palmer / Shera / Pepsiman? A. See the Secrets section. Q. How do I get T.G. Cid's ending? A. Don't use any of his special moves to beat the game. Q. Is CidFighter a real game? A. I'm going to pretend you didn't just ask that. (of course it's not a real game!) Q. But it would make a great game! A. Agreed. That wasn't a question, though. Q. Why doesn't Bugenhagen have legs? A. I don't know, and what does that have to do with CidFighter anyway? **************************************************************** III. MOVE LISTS **************************************************************** %%%CID II%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%% Real Name: ? Likes: The good ol' days Dislikes: "Kids these days" Stage Background: Retirement home --NORMAL MOVES-- Complain: d, db, b+P Cid II starts whining about the state of the gaming industry today. A little word balloon comes out and will hit the opponent if they're REALLY close to you. But they can usually hit you from a distance (like with a projectile), and you can't stop the move while Cid II is complaining. This move is the Malak of CidFighter -- it hurts you more than it does the other Cid. Don't EVER use it; it's the worst move in the game. Fake Death: d, d, d Cid II falls down and pretends to die. You can make him get back up by pressing any button. This move is really useless, as when Cid II is lying on the ground, he can still be hit by low attacks. The only time you'd ever want to use this move is to show off if you're good. --SUPER-- Rain of Prunes: d, d+K A rain of prunes fall down across the screen sequentially as Cid II talks about the "good ol' days." The first prune lands next to Cid II, the next one a little farther out, etc. If your opponent is careful, they can dodge it, but the number of falling prunes gives you a chance to hit at least several times. The bad part about this move is that it leaves Cid II open to attack while he's telling stories, so if you fail to hit the other Cid, expect to get whacked. If you haven't figured it out already, Cid II is the worst character in the game (despite his claims otherwise). --FATALITY-- Paddling: hold d, P, P, K Noting that "It's time to knock some sense into you whippersnappers", Cid II gets out a paddle and starts paddling the enemy Cid to death. --ENDING-- Cid II starts talking about how he's taught these youngsters a lesson. Then he walks off to a retirement home, where he swaps stories with Cranky Kong and Ramuh. %%%CID III%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%% Real Name: ? Likes: Building lots of airships Dislikes: ? Stage Background: Town of Canaan [where he lives] --NORMAL MOVES-- Staff: d, df, f+K Cid III jabs an enemy with his staff. This is actually a ground-level attack, although it doesn't look like it. If your opponent doesn't know this, they will have a fun time trying to block it... heh, heh. Chocobot: charge back, f+K A robot Chocobo runs in from the side of the screen; Cid III hops on and the Chocobot kicks your opponent. Besides its direct attack, this move can be used to cross the screen quickly (you can actually jump off the Chocobo without attacking, which is a good surpise tactic). Note that if you are hit while on the Chocobo, you'll fall off and the Chocobo just keeps running off the screen. Note: I don't know why Cid III has this move, because the Chocobot was in Seiken Densetsu 1, not FF3. Maybe the designers were having a hard time thinking up moves for Cid III. --SUPER-- Airship Crash: charge down, quarter circle towards+P A huge airship falls out of the sky and explodes. This does a lot of damage and is almost impossible to dodge. However, it does absolutely no damage if blocked (they block the whole airship? O---kaaay...). --FATALITY-- Sloth Book: b,db,d,dt,t,dt,p Cid III starts reading a book about the study of three-toed sloths. The other Cid commits suicide from boredom. (Is it just me, or does Cid III have really weird moves?) --ENDING-- Cid III starts a company and starts selling his many kinds of airships. While testing a new model, he lands on Vicks and Wedge, killing them (you knew they had to die somehow, didn't you?). This is a pretty lame ending. %%%CID IV%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%% Real Name: Cid Pollendina Likes: Working on airships, Peeping Dislikes: The thin paranoid man Stage Background: Baron Castle --NORMAL MOVES-- Peep: f, f+P Cid IV uses his magnifying glass to "Peep" the opponent. The opponent will then flash a certain color, and you have to press the corresponding button to throw the right hammer: Brown -- Wooden Hammer, weak punch Silver -- Silver Hammer, medium punch Green -- Earth Hammer, strong punch Blue -- Adamant Hammer, weak kick Black -- Mithril Hammer, medium kick Red -- Gold Hammer, strong kick If you press the right button, Cid IV will throw his hammer, an unblockable projectile attack (and it hits hard too). If you press the wrong button, or no button at all, nothing happens. Hammer: f, d, df+P Cid IV swings his hammer. This isn't much better than a regular punch -- it does more damage, but is also slower. It's best used in combos. --SUPER-- Fireworks: P (repeatedly) Cid IV sets off a huge bomb that envelops most of the screen. It does a lot of damage and is nearly impossible to block or dodge, but the downside is that Cid IV also takes damage. Use it only when you're ahead, or (if you're a poor loser) when you're about to lose -- so that you both idea and the round is a draw. --FATALITY-- You Spoony Bard!: b, db, d, dt, t, ut+P The narrator says "Challenger comes." Cid IV runs off the screen and Tellah enters to fight the enemy Cid. Tellah shouts "You spoony bard!" --ENDING-- After defeating Evil Cid and claiming the mantle of True Cid, Cid IV recruits a bunch of dwarves to help him build a rocket. They all run around, spinning in circles and jumping up and down (with the dwarves saying "Lali-ho!"). Then the rocket takes off. Another stupid ending. %%%CID V%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%% Real Name: Cid Previa Likes: His grandson Mid Dislikes: Karnak Stage Background: Fire-Powered Ship --NORMAL MOVES-- Floor Bomb: t, dt, d+P Cid V tosses a bomb onto the floor, blowing a hole in it. The bomb doesn't do any damage, but if your opponent steps in the hole, they'll take damage and get teleported back to the far side of the screen (the holes *will* disappear after a while). This is a great defensive move. Sol Cannon: t, dt, d, db, b+P Cid V uses a cannon to fire a missile. It does little damage, but if not blocked, resets your opponent's Super bar. Very useful. --SUPER-- Mid: d, d, d+K Cid's grandson Mid jumps down from the top of the screen and starts hitting your opponent with a baseball bat. This is a great move, because it can't be blocked and is hard to avoid as Mid moves very fast (although you *can* jump out of the way). It does a fair amount of damage as well. The best time to use this move is when your opponent is stationary. --FATALITY-- Hotseat: d, d, d, u, u, u, P, P, P The Living Flame comes out of the background of the Fire- Powered Ship and shoots some fire at the enemy Cid, setting his pants on fire. The other Cid runs off screaming, with smoke trailing behind him. --ENDING-- Cid V disassembles Evil Cid's broadcast scrambler and uses it to "power up" his airship with adamantium. Then he and Mid fly off to the Lonka Ruins. When they get there, they find Edward and his band (the Really Useless Characters) practicing. Cid V yells "You spoony bard!", then they fly off. A weird ending. %%%CID VI%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%% Real Name: ? Likes: Yummy fish Dislikes: Rotten fish Stage Background: Solitary Island --NORMAL MOVES-- Rotten Fish: d, dt, t+P Cid VI hurls a rotten fish across the screen. The fish moves really fast, so you can usually catch your opponent off guard with it. However, it doesn't do a lot of damage. Use sparingly. Yummy Fish: d, db, b+K Cid VI eats a yummy fish and says "Hack ack! I feel a little better!". Part of his life bar is refilled. This is useful, but it also gives your opponent a chance to hit you, so use it only when you know can get away with it. --SUPER-- Raincoat Shield: d+P (hold) Cid VI hides in his raincoat, protecting him from damage for a brief period of time. This is a cool move. Although it doesn't actually do anything to harm the opponent and you can't act during it, you can attack immediately afterwards or use it when your opponent does their Super to make them waste it. --FATALITY-- Magitek Armor: p, k, k, p, k, k, p Cid VI jumps off screen and comes back in a suit of Magitek Armor. He uses the X-Fer magitek to zap the enemy Cid into oblivion. --ENDING-- Cid VI finally realizes his dream of having an airship -- he steals one from Cid III. What he doesn't know is that the airship is rigged with a bomb, and it blows up. %%%CID VII%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%% Real Name: Cid Highwind Likes: Dukes of Hazzard Dislikes: Cid VI's raincoat, Palmer Stage Background: Shinra-26 --NORMAL MOVES-- Dynamite: d, dt, t+P Cid VII lights a stick of dynamite on his cigarette and tosses it at his opponent. When the dynamite hits the ground, it explodes. This is a really cool move because the explosion gives you a much bigger target than if you had to hit the enemy Cid directly. Once you can judge the arc on the dynamite, you'll use this move a lot. Secondhand Smoke: d, db, b+P Cid VII starts smoking and blows a cloud of secondhand smoke at his opponent. Although this move takes off a lot of life, it's slow and easy to dodge. Don't bother. --SUPER-- Highwind: b, db, d, dt, t+K The Highwind appears in your corner of the screen and launches a series of missiles diagonally. This move really only works when your opponent is in their corner, but it does a lot of damage if not blocked, and a fair amount of block damage even if it is. One of the better Supers in the game. --FATALITY-- Leviathan: hold P + d, d, u Cid VII summons Leviathan, who bites off his opponent's head. --ENDING-- Cid VII has proven himself to be the True Cid and the other Cids just posers. As he flies back to Rocket Town, he turns on the radio, having saved the world's radio waves from Evil Cid. Back home, he yells at Shera to go make some tea and sits down to watch Dukes of Hazzard. This is a cool ending. %%%EVIL CID%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%% Real Name: Unknown Likes: Hanson, Pikachu Dislikes: The Cids Stage Background: Battle Square --NORMAL MOVES-- MMMBop: charge down, K Evil Cid whips out a boombox and starts playing MMMBop. This move is unblockable, but it leaves Evil Cid open to attack afterwards. Use it only when the enemy Cid is far away from you, so you won't get hit. Letter Bomb: hold u+P for five seconds Evil Cid releases a carrier pigeon carrying a letter bomb. The pigeon flies back and forth at the top of the screen; if the enemy Cid is ever positioned under it, the pigeon drops the bomb, doing a fair amount of damage (the pigeon will not drop the bomb on you). If your opponent manages to avoid the pigeon for 15 seconds, it will fly away, but you can always release another one (you can only have one pigeon at a time). The best way to use this move is to hit your opponent right under the pigeon, resulting in an easy combo. --SUPER-- Warmech: d, db, b, f+P Warmech enters from the side of the screen and shoots a barrage of missiles. This move is easy to block, but it still does a fair amount of damage if blocked, and it's hard to avoid. --FATALITY-- Pikachu: P (repeatedly) Pikachu appears over Evil Cid and flashes his red eyes. The other Cid has a seizure and falls to the ground. --ENDING-- Evil Cid has defeated the oppressive reign of the Cids and claimed his rightful position as True Cid. As he turns on his radio to listen to more MMMBop, Mayor Domino shows up and congratulates him, then asks Evil Cid what he's going to do. Evil Cid replies, "I know! I gotta believe!" The ending concludes with Hart beating up Evil Cid. %%%T.G. CID%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%% Real Name: Cidolfas Orlandu Likes: Dislikes: Stage Background: Bethla Garrison --NORMAL MOVES-- Night Sword: charge back, f+P Orlandu swings his sword, creating an orange beam. If this move hits your opponent, it drains a bit of their life bar to yours -- not a whole lot, but still useful. Also, the Night Sword has a long range, so use it often. Shellbust Stab: f, d, df+P Orlandu swings his sword and a purple arc comes out of the ground under your opponent. This move is not only extremely hard to dodge, it's unblockable as well. If you use it too much, though, all your opponent has to do is keep jumping to avoid it. Use it only occasionally; usually when you're on the defensive. --SUPER-- Holy Explosion: charge back, towards+P Orlandu swings his sword, causing an orange beam to slide across the screen. This can't be blocked, it can't be dodged either, and it hits pretty hard! Yes, folks, Orlandu is the best character in the game. Does that surprise you? --FATALITY-- T.G. Cid Bomb: charge back, t+P The fake T.G. Cid that Delita used to frame Orlandu runs in with a bomb strapped to himself and blows up the enemy. --ENDING-- None %%%PALMER%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%% Likes: Eating (esp. lard) Dislikes: Exercise, trucks Stage Background: Shinra Building --NORMAL MOVES-- Mako Gun: b, db, d, dt, t+P Yelling "Hey-hey!", Palmer fires a blue star-shaped blast from his Mako Gun. The blast travels fast, and it will also destroy any other projectiles it hits. Although the damage is only moderate, it's still a really good move (Palmer's best). Learn to use it quickly to stop other projectiles. Butt Splash: jump, d, d+K Palmer falls rear-first onto his opponent. You have to use this when you're right above or it won't hit. It does a LOT of damage, however, if you can pull it off succesfully. --SUPER-- Tiny Bronco: clockwise circle from t, t+P The Tiny Bronco swoops down in an arc across the screen, spinning its propellers. If somebody (you can get hit with this move too!) gets caught in the propellers, they take a lot of damage. Unfortunately, it's really hard to hit with, so don't bother. If you do use it, be sure to duck... --FATALITY-- Truck: charge b, t, d, dt A truck drives in from the side of the screen, hits your opponent, and knocks him off the screen. --ENDING-- None %%%SHERA%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%% Likes: Checking oxygen tanks Dislikes: Aborted launches Stage Background: Fruites Dojo --NORMAL MOVES-- Hot Tea: d, db, d, dt, t+P Shera swings a pitcher of tea, splashing hot tea on your opponent. This move is kind of hard to aim due to its odd "spilling" trajectory, but it does a lot of damage and always knocks your opponent down. Use it when you're in close; it's easier to hit with then. Shotgun: f, d, df+K Shera fires a shotgun. This projectile attack travels quickly and does medium damage. The bad part about it is that it takes a moment before Shera fires, so if your opponent is alert, they can jump out of the way. --SUPER-- Hero Drink: P (repeatedly) Shera drinks some Hero Drink from her tea pitcher. She then starts to glow red, making her move faster and raising the damage you inflict. Shera will start to glow less and less and eventually stop. Use this move whenever you can; it's really useful. However, DON'T use a Hero Drink while you are still glowing from the last one or you will O.D. on Hero Drink and lose half your life bar. Be sure to wait until you stop glowing. --FATALITY-- It's All My Fault: d, db, b, ub, u, ut, t, dt, d, P, K, P, K Shera breaks down in self-pity, lamenting her failure in the launch of the Shinra-26 and crying. Your opponent, overcome by guilt, commits suicide. --ENDING-- Shera's ending replays the first encounter with Cid from FF7. Palmer asks for some lard tea and such. When Cid starts swearing at her, though, she gets pissed off. Then when everybody leaves with drinking any, she takes the tea and pours it into the Number 8 Tank. Then it shows Cid and Cloud taking off in the rocket, which blows up and the remains slam into Meteor. It's pretty cool, actually. The ending fades out with a shot of Shera making an evil grin. %%%PEPSIMAN%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%% Likes: Pepsi Dislikes: Coke Stage Background: Tokyo in the summer --NORMAL MOVES-- Can Throw: d, dt, t+P Pepsiman throws a can of Pepsi at his opponent's head, causing damage and knocking the opponent if not blocked. Pepsi Scream: charge b, f+P Pepsiman does that creepy thing when his mouth suddenly appears on his normally featureless face. Then he makes a noise like a can of Pepsi being opened. His opponent will be so creeped out that they will stop doing anything and will be open to attack. However, this attack take quite a while to charge up, leaving Pepsiman open to attack. Only use this move when you know that you can pull it off. --SUPER-- Pepsi Wave: b, f, f, b, b, f+K A wave of Pepsi rushes across the screen and knocks down your opponent, causing a lot of damage. A bit slow, but hard to dodge and effective. It does no damage if blocked, however. --FATALITY-- Pepsi Change: P, P, K Pepsiman turns his opponent into a can of Pepsi. Then he picks it up and drinks it. --ENDING-- Pepsiman breaks into Sega of America headquarters, angry that he wasn't in the U.S. version of Fighting Vipers. He uses his Pepsi powers to take over the company. Everybody is so glad to see Bernie Stolar gone that Pepsiman becomes an international hero and gets his own movie and TV show. **************************************************************** IV. SECRETS **************************************************************** PLAY AS EVIL CID To get the boss Evil Cid as a playable character, you must set the difficulty level to Hard, then beat the game with any character. Evil Cid will then be playable. PLAY AS T.G. CID First, get Evil Cid as a playable character. Then beat the once with all of the characters, including Evil Cid. You can use any difficulty level, or a combination of difficulty levels (i.e, hard for Cid VII but easy with Cid VI). FIGHT / PLAY AS PALMER To do this trick, you must be playing as Cid VII, and fight on his stage (the rocket). Now, occasionally, Palmer will appear in the lower-right corner of the screen and yell "Hey-hey!", then disappear again. What you have to do is land a stick of dynamite (from the Dynamite move) on Palmer's head. Palmer will jump up onto the screen and say "You must defeat Palmer to stand a chance." Then a truck comes in, hits the enemy Cid, and knocks him off the screen. You then have to fight one round against Palmer (he's tougher than you think). If you beat him, he will become playable. PLAY AS SHERA Set all the options to their default, then select a character. On any stage but the last, win both rounds perfectly (don't get hit and don't have any of your attacks blocked), then do a fatality. As soon as you finish doing the fatality, Chop-Chop Master Onion drops down and says, "You're so good! I'm gonna lose money with students like you!" Chop-Chop then jumps around and kicks down all the walls of the stages, changing the background into the Fruites Dojo. Chop-Chop says "Don't get cocky, it's gonna get rocky" and jumps off the screen. Then "Challenger comes" and you fight against Shera. After you win one round against Shera, Chop-Chop comes back and says to Shera "Hey-hey! You're bad! Wanna try super beginner's course!" You then start playing through the rest of the game as Shera. When you defeat Evil Cid, there is no ending, but Shera becomes playable! Finally! FIGHT AGAINST PEPSIMAN To fight Pepsiman, first get all the other secret characters (Evil Cid, T.G. Cid, Shera, and Palmer). Then pick Cid III (yes, Cid III). Get to the third round (win one, lose one) of a battle. Then let yourself get hit until you're almost dead. If you're lucky, you hear "Challenger comes" and you go to the character select. The selection cursor then scrolls through each character until it gets to the last one (Palmer). A chorus then shouts "Pepsimaaaaaan!" and Pepsiman appears. You get to fight against him (you do get your life bar back). You may note that this was the way Pepsiman showed up in Fighting Vipers as well. PLAY AS PEPSIMAN First, fight and defeat Pepsiman. Then set the timer to infinite and fight against Palmer. Fight for three minutes without anybody winning. Palmer will get tired and sit down. Pepsiman will appear in the background and toss a Pepsi to Palmer. You have to catch the Pepsi in the air before Palmer gets it. If you do, the chorus says "Pepsimaaaaaan!" and a Pepsiman commercial starts playing. Afterwards, you're back at the title screen, but you can now play as Pepsiman! CID VI'S SECRET ENDING To get the good ending for Cid VI ("Raincoat Boy"), you must eat a Yummy Fish at least once every round, the whole game. Then Cid VI will fly off on his jet-powered Raft of Justice instead of getting blown up on the airship. T.G. CID'S SECRET ENDING Play as T.G. Cid, but don't use any of his special moves. When you defeat Evil Cid, you will get a brief ending in which T.G. Cid undergoes plastic surgery in order to obtain a nose. Hey, at least it's an ending. PALMERBALL MODE To access Palmerball Mode, you must beat the game on any difficulty level with Palmer. Palmerball is just like Tekken Ball, except that you hit Palmer around instead of a ball. (Note that you cannot select Palmer as your character in Palmerball Mode). WEDGE AND VICKS MODE Press Up, Up, Down, Down, Left, Right, Left, Right, A, B, Select, Start on the title screen. Then go to the options screen and you can toggle Wedge And Vicks Mode on and off. It's basically a sudden-death mode -- both players die in one hit. SHANGHAI INN BONUS GAME The easiest way to access this game is to play a two-player game. You must fight on Cid VII's stage. Have the player playing as Cid VII stand a few steps in from the corner and jump forward. The other Cid (T.G. Cid works best) must hit Cid VII in the air and knock him backwards. Cid VII will fall down and land at the Shanghai Inn. You now go to a special bonus game where you have to break down the door of the Shanghai Inn bathroom in 30 seconds. You can use all your attacks, but, personally, I think it's impossible. **************************************************************** V.
